Sr. Design Engineer - Zimmer - Dover, OH (relocaiton available)



Looking for candidate with Design Engineering experience, degree in engineering, new product development, 2-D or 3-D modeling in medical devices, pharmaceutical, biomedical, orthopaedic, prosthetic related industry.

Responsible for all activities required to build, manipulate, and archive modeled components and assemblies. This includes adherence to all relevant internal and external standards and requirements. Responsibilities require sufficient professional expertise to assure competence as a fully trained engineer as well as interpersonal skills required to work with other company disciplines. Work is expected to encompass both development of new products and maintenance of existing products.

Responsible for designing/developing new products from concept to production. Including product feasibility, analysis, development and evaluation.
Recommends and incorporates appropriate design solutions balancing performance requirements, product cost, and business objectives.
Creates and revises detail drawings using 2-D and 3-D solid modeling tools.
Interacts concurrently with design, quality and manufacturing personnel to develop part models and detailed drawings for new and revised products.
May lead projects or significant portions of projects involving several multifunctional areas.
Responsible for the integrity of the computer solid models and model databases. Models must be suitable for internal concurrent manufacture, CMM data extraction, and vendor translation.
Complies with existing procedures and standards to create product models and drawings that comply with all applicable internal and external regulations and standards.
Participate on project teams, including communications with outside suppliers to relay data as required.

 Candidates must have excellent oral and written communications skills.
 Demonstrates ownership for the integrity of the work.
 Must have the ability to be creative, to initiate design ideas and build on them.
 Must possess a thorough knowledge of machining operations and production operations and processes. Must have a high degree of Zimmer product knowledge.
 Must able to handle problems of varying complexity.
 Identifies and considers a variety of options.
 Challenges current methods and strives for improvement.
 Goes beyond existing knowledge base and expands our understanding, methods and procedures leaving a base for others to utilize and build upon (trail blazing).
 Personal computer, problem solving, team building, and SPC skills are also considered important in order to accomplish job responsibilities.
 Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory processes.

 Candidates must have a BS degree in mechanical engineering or mechanical engineering technology, or the equivalent experience.
