
Looking for candidates with advanced knowledge of materials Science, polymer processing, regulatory process - national/international standards, product development, chemistry background. Patents and industrial work a plus.
This position involves the development of applications, processing and characterization of monomers, polymers and materials used in the development and production of orthopaedic medical devices. Responsible for using previous training and experiences to research and specify new equipment and processes for the Company. In addition, this position is responsible for the development and transfer of these new ideas. Responsible for research projects as well as team assignments involving cross functional areas of Zimmer.
* Maintain daily interaction with other Research scientists, Development and Manufacturing Engineers.
* Work effectively with Legal, Regulatory and Quality departments.
* Instructing and supervising the work of technicians and other staff in fully equipped polymer and analytical chemistry laboratories.
* Present work internally and publish work externally. 100 Total Percent (not to exceed 100%)
*Individual percents should be greater than or equal to 5%. This is not an exhaustive list of duties or functions and may not necessarily comprise all of the "essential functions" for purposes of the ADA.
Advanced knowledge of materials science, processing and engineering.
* Utilize leadership and motivational skills to expedite completion of critical project tasks with other functional groups
* Familiar with national and international standards.
* Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal.
* Possesses a strong knowledge of analytical techniques and polymer processing.
* Complete knowledge of the new product development and regulatory process
* Establishes a process method which meets performance and quality requirements
* Demonstrated ability to lead and influence all parts of the organization BS/MS degree in Polymer Science, Analytical Chemistry or Materials Science; PhD strongly preferred.
* 5 years of experience in research/lab setting
* A combination of education and experience may be considered
