Seeking candidate with Bachelor's degree, purchasing/sourcing experience, raw materials (prefer plastics), cost reduction, contract negotiations, forecasting, supply and demand. Relocation available.
Drive the acquisition process to secure goods/services in the Raw Materials area of spend while ensuring competitiveness and limiting risk to Kohler: Review purchase requirements with internal stakeholder(s) to develop business need
1. Recommend alternative material or methods based on knowledge of market availability
2. Obtain supplier quotations/proposals on prospective purchases
3. Review bid proposals, quotes and make recommendations
4. Negotiate complex supplier agreements with awareness of the cultural, geographic, and political environment
· Drive the supplier approval and management process by:
1. Identifying and maintaining direct contact with suppliers.
2. Visiting supplier facilities as a team member to conduct supplier assessments with respect to business practices, quality of operations, opportunities for improvement
3. Supporting resolution of quality, warranty and service/delivery issues with suppliers
4. Establishing continuing total cost reduction programs (design changes, supplier suggestions, payment terms, negotiations, inventory and lead-time improvements)
· Negotiate and establish purchase contracts. Work with Kohler Legal team to establish and manage purchase contracts to meet business needs, with consideration of security of supply, business law and intellectual property rights.
· Analyze trade reports, journals and periodicals regarding market trends and changes alerting appropriate personnel to potential or imminent problems/opportunities. Develop and/or continuously improve commodity pricing models to provide insight to future market pricing. Collaborate with Purchasing management and staff across all Kohler and select non-Kohler purchasing organizations to develop and implement commodity fixed price programs and related commodity strategies.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or Supply Chain Management.
· Minimum of 1-5 years of professional experience, including cost reduction and/or contract negotiation experience.
· Typically 1-2 years of purchasing/sourcing experience.
· Previous SAP experience is desirable.
