BASIC FUNCTION
Responsible for the total scope of Engineering Projects, including design, fabrication and installation for improving existing physical plant facilities, manufacturing systems and maintaining the Quality Systems for Plastics.
Responsibility includes any other project engineering or Quality related work as assigned by Plastics Superintendent
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and oversee fabrication and installation of new equipment, controls, and machine components.
- Develop designs for improving mechanical and electrical systems or quality on existing plant equipment.
- Investigate and follow through with improvements for quality improvements, cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Direct Plastics personnel in and the installation or repair of equipment according to specific design guidelines.
- Work closely with Corporate Engineering, Wisconsin on major equipment or building additions or improvements.
- Assist in reviewing equipment purchases to insure that applicable safety requirements are met.
- Study and verify that work being performed by outside contractors meets all required specifications.
- Develop feasibility studies on new ideas and innovations, which would relate to Quality and manufacturing systems.
- Prepare status reports on long term and specialty projects.
- Perform other engineering work as assigned.
RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Supervisory Relationships:
- Reports to Superintendent-Plastics.
- Directly supervises associates assigned to Quality and special projects.
Organization Relationships:
- Frequent contact with Plastics Superintendent to receive new and report on existing assignments.
- Frequent contact with Manufacturing supervision for appraisal of new projects and other manufacturing problems.
- Frequent contact with Industrial Engineering concerning cost estimates, layouts, capacities of plant facilities, and other technical assistance.

As a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer supporting New Product Development,this is your unique opportunity to set your mark and live on the leading edge. This position is responsible for minimizing the variability of purchased materials by utilizing Supplier Quality Management (SQM) principles. The occupant will primarily support New Product Development (NPD) project releases for pending Kohler product designs as well as limited support for product already released to the field. Reporting to the PA Supplier Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer will have frequent contact with Suppliers, PA Quality, PA Design Engineering, Purchasing and Kohler remote locations. There will be occasional contact with Division Industrial Engineering and Production Supervision.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
- Participate in development of Qualification & Verification Test Plans, Capability Studies and subsequent Control Plans at suppliers for new products.
- Leads development of DFMEA & PFMEA and PPRs for new and existing products
- Participate in supplier qualification activities, quality system assessments, and process/facility audits and surveys as necessary. Maintains the relationship with the supplier for the purpose of achieving procured quality objectives.
- Communicate, clarify and facilitate supplier PPAP submissions, as well as conduct PPAP preparation, review and approval for purchased products.
